As hard drives and televisions continue to blur the boundaries between their two technologies, where will the software application come from that makes the two seamless? There are several companies out there producing TV-to-PC applications. Not all Asian Massage Toronto them address the sticky wicket of owner rights and royalties. And not all of them will survive.
Some companies are banking on the ability to produce a critical mass in the marketplace, and making it so that advertisers and media owners must pay attention to them and essentially allow them to deliver media over the Internet. When iTunes first was released to the masses of Apple faithful, some of the traditional music publishing companies paid no attention, thinking the market was not big enough to pay attention to it. Others refused to play along at all, wishing to not sell their music catalog at a discounted price. Well, we all know how that worked out, don't we? iTunes has sold a ba-jillion songs, and is a heavyweight in the market.
So, how do others get to play along? I would think one of those ways would be to produce a suite that is user-friendly, supported by a solid company, updates its software regularly, and offers solutions to multiple needs. One of the keys that always makes the difference is traffic to the site, or number of users using the application. That means it doesn't have to be the best one out there, but it has to have enough traction to gain some attention. And that will make the big boys pay attention.
